Cathrine Thorleifsson is a researcher at Center for Research on Extremism at the University of Oslo. She holds a PhD in anthropology from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her postdoctoral research examines how processes of globalisation inform the dynamics of populist nationalism. Cathrine Thorleifsson is the author of the books Nationalist responses to the crises in Europe and Nationalism and the Politics of Fear in Israel. In addition to her research, she has previously worked for UNDP in Damascus and conducted consultancy work for the World Bank, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Commission. Cathrine was born in Washington D.C and has lived in the United States, Norway, the United Kingdom, Syria and Israel.
