Henrik Syse is a philosopher, author and a lecturer. He is a researcher at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and is specialised in the ethics and laws of armed conflict, as well as other issues within international ethics. Syse was head of Corporate Governance for Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), which manages the Government Pension Fund of Norway Global, from 2005 to 2007 and continues as an advisor and consultant on social issues for NBIM until 2009. Since 2015 he has been the vice chair of the Nobel Committee. The world Economic Forum nominated him for Young Global Leader in 2007. He has a Master of Arts degree from Boston College and a Ph.D in ethics from the university of Oslo.
