László Varró
VP, Strategy, Insight, Scenario Shell
László Varró is Vice President of Strategy, Insights & Scenarios at Shell, where he leads the analysis of macroeconomics, energy scenarios, climate change policy and geopolitical trends - topics that are critical to understanding today's global challenges. With deep insight into the energy sector's complex relationship with geopolitical power plays, he offers a perspective that is both timely and thought-provoking.
Prior to joining Shell in 2021, Varró held key roles at the International Energy Agency (IEA). As Chief Economist from 2016, he built a new energy investment analysis team and provided methodological support to the IEA's policy work. With a background in energy policy and strategy, Varró currently develops Shell's long-term scenarios, exploring how global energy trends, security issues and climate policy could affect the transition to a low-carbon economy. He also looks at how major events such as pandemics and war affect energy markets.
Varró's analysis helps Shell navigate the opportunities and uncertainties of the energy landscape, and provides important input for decision-making at a time of increased political and economic pressure on the energy transition. We warmly welcome László Varró to the NHH Symposium!
